Girl my scalp is dry as a desert…Mimosa Hair Honey Revisited

Dang that's dry!

So for the past couple of weeks, I’ve been on the hunt to find oils or butters for my scalp. Why? Because winter is coming and my hair, scalp and skin get really, really dry. Last winter, I was unprepared and this suffered a bit, but this year I’m on a mission to get some kind of a solid regimen for the colder months.

So first up in my mission is the scalp. In the summer, spring and fall months, my scalp is fine. I usually use a light oil such as jojoba oil or grapeseed oil with no muss no fuss. In the winter, I need something heavier, similar to a hair grease but using butters and oils that are good for my hair. While on my search, I asked on twitter if someone can recommend a natural substitute for the scalp similar to hair grease. Low and behold someone recommended Carol’s Daughter Mimosa Hair Honey.

Now if you read my product review on Mimosa Hair Honey I said that the product made my scalp itch because I may have been sensitive to something in it. However, this time I wanted to give it another shot and use it directly on my scalp like a hair grease and see what would happen. The next day, my wash day, I used the Mimosa Hair Honey on my scalp after I moisturized with my leave in (Oyin Hair Dew), plaited my hair, threw on my scarf and went to bed. That morning as I was styling my hair, I noticed I had no itching, that afternoon no itching and even now two days later, no itching.

I couldn’t believe it, no itching after using the Mimosa Hair Honey this time. But I wonder why did my hair itch when I first purchased? I would never know the answer. But low and behold now I have potential product for my blustery scalp regimen. The downside however, is that this “ish is freakin’ expensive!” Don’t get me wrong I have quite a bit to last a while (a little goes a long way) but I’ll be on the look out for more products for my scalp.
